GABRIEL FONG, Chairman                                                                                      

Mr. Fong has over 25 years’ investment experience in Asia, investing across a broad variety of industries, including real estate, in both the public as well as private markets. He is currently Chairman and significant shareholder of Fenix Global Investors, a real estate investment firm.

Between 2006 – 2013, Mr. Fong was Managing Director and Head of the Asia Private Investments Group of Och-Ziff Capital Management, one of the largest global hedge fund. While there, he built and managed a multi-billion dollar portfolio, investing across industries, capital structures and through various securities instruments. After he left Och-Ziff Capital in Sep 2013, he continued to serve as an advisor and consultant to Och-Ziff Capital and represented the firm on the boards of several portfolio companies.

Prior to Och-Ziff, Mr. Fong was with the Morgan Stanley Private Equity Group for 7 years, heading its investing business in SE Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Previously, he was with the Merchant Banking Group of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (Hong Kong) and the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs (Singapore).

Mr. Fong holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons Economics) degree from the University of Cambridge, UK.  He serves on the University of Cambridge’s Alumni Advisory Board as well as the East Asia Advisory Group for the John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.

GILBERT QUAH, Partner                                                                                

As Co-Founder and Partner at Fenix Global Investors Co Ltd (“FGI”), Mr Quah is actively involved in managing and growing FGI’s portfolio of real estate business.  Since FGI’s inception in 2012, Mr Quah has invested and led investments in more than 10 projects in Texas (with equity commitments in excess of $50 million) comprising of acquisitions and development of residential, industrial and mixed-use commercial real estate.

Prior to co-founding FGI, Mr Quah was Executive Director and shareholder of a high-tech coating technology company based in Singapore.  Under his leadership, and over the 6-year period from 2006 to 2012, the company successfully expanded its operations throughout the Asia Pacific to Malaysia, China and Japan, until when it was sold to one of its JV partners.

Mr Quah has over 12 years’ experience in the banking and finance industry with a variety of international financial institutions. Mr Quah has worked in the Corporate Finance arm at American International Group (“AIG”) in Singapore, as well as in corporate & syndicated loans with Crédit Industriel et Commercial (Singapore), a French banking group.  In his various roles, Mr Quah has had extensive experience with investments, mergers and acquisitions in SE Asia. 

Mr Quah holds a Bachelor of Business (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University in Australia.
